Deanna Matzanke was appointed in February 2007 to the position of in the Global HR and Communications function at Scotiabank. Within these two areas, her group deals with a wide range of employment strategies including fostering and integrating the Bank’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Strategy for leveraging diversity, as well as the implementation of the Bank’s Global HR Policy and Compliance Framework which covers many topics such as privacy, occupational health and safety, human rights, flexible work options, accommodation, accessibility.
Prior to joining this Global HR group, she spent 6 years in the Employment Law Group as in-house counsel at the Bank where she dealt with all aspects of the employment relationship.
Deanna holds a BA Honours in Romance Languages from U of Alberta, along with both her common law and civil law degrees from McGill University and was the recipient of the Nathan Cotler Human Rights Award. She is also a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
