Michelle Hawks is an experienced teacher and facilitator who has worked with various groups over the past 10 years as she continues her own journey towards a better understanding of how implicit bias and structural barriers impact our everyday lives. Originally from the United States, she was trained as a teacher in K-12 mathematics before pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta.
Michelle is well-known for her genuine desire to learn and share knowledges with others, including a passion for creating supportive learning environments through the use of holistic and student-centered learning strategies. When not working she enjoys playing soccer, hiking with her family, and knitting.
